About us

The Problem – Smartphone search stinks. Desktop search with a mouse, keyboard, and big screen is fantastic, but shoehorned into a mobile app, search is awkward, frustrating, and slow. Typing on glass, clicking blue links, squinting at endless pages of text — all feel wrong on a smartphone, where the best apps encourage swiping through images, not wrestling with words.

The Solution – ZOWDOW makes search swipeable. ZOWDOW brings much-needed flow to mobile search with AI-powered, swipeable feeds of visual results that are delivered — as users type — into the autosuggest results of leading mobile web browsers, keyboards, and other apps. Keying off of mobile signals and word fragments, ZOWDOW “pre-search” suggestions take users where they want to go faster than ever before, delivering the first truly mobile-native search experience at scale, while also introducing a massive new advertising opportunity.

The Billion-Dollar Opportunity – The first advertising platform inside autosuggest. Mobile search apps are all 1) desktop-native experiences (in need of modern mobile UX), 2) desperate for more engagement (search is fragmenting across specialized apps) and 3) seeking more revenue (search engines cutting back on revenue share). ZOWDOW solves these problems by: 1) providing a slick, highly performant mobile-native UX (sub-10ms results), 2) increasing user engagement (50% increase in searches/user; 75% increase in app opens within 6 months of integration), and 3) creating a new revenue opportunity (The Suggestion Marketplace). Furthermore, the unique autosuggest solution positions ZOWDOW to be one of the few companies processing billions of searches, training its suggestion algorithms for even more exciting products on emerging platforms like wearables, in-vehicle, AR, and VR. ZOWDOW’s Intelligent Suggestion Platform already responds to hundreds of millions of searches each day across its developer network with intelligent suggestions and contextual advertisements.

The Company. Founded in 2015 by search and mobile veterans (including Idealab’s Bill Gross) and backed by March Capital and other leading investors, ZOWDOW is redefining search on mobile devices, and changing how advertisers reach mobile users with timely offers that feel less like advertisements and more like suggestions from a trusted friend. ZOWDOW “pre-search” suggestions are the keyword search of mobile.
